Cooperation agreement Between The Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry lands ACSAD & The Arab Union for Development and Economic Integration

     Today, the Arab Centre for the Studies of Arid Zones and Drylands “ACSAD” and the Arab Union for Development and Economic Integration have signed a technical and scientific cooperation agreement to observe the Arabian projects in the agricultural and economic fields adopted by the Arab Union; the agreement is represented Arabian and international cooperation by using modern technologies contribute to developing the agricultural sector and halting the increasing decay of Arab water resources.

     The ACSAD’s Director-General, H.E Dr Naser Edin Obeid and the General Secretary of the Arab Union for Development and Economic Integration, Dr Ahmed Al-Janeby, have signed the Agreement on the margins of the High Coordinating Committee’s meetings for Joint Arab Action in its fifty-third session held in the Republic of Tunisia.

     The Agreement stipulates for forming joint committees to classify local and international corporations that wished working in the Arab countries in the agricultural activity, the several collaborative projects in investing the dry areas and Arid lands, taking advantage of the research and studies of both sides, patronage the regular events of both organizations, work on their success to enhance the Arab joint work.

     It also sets down the necessity of collaboration in plant wealth, production increase, livestock, water resources, land and water uses, plan and economy; it also provides an executive program for each collaborative activity in accordance with the related bodies in ACSAD and the Union. Each executive program identifies the execution mechanism, both sides’ technical and scientific commitments, or to secure financing from Arab and international institutions.

     The Agreement also provides for supporting the publication of individual or joint research in the Arab Journal of the Dry Environment issued by the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry lands ACSAD, under the followed publication rules, and which is participated in refereeing the scientific research per the both parties’ regulations and provisions.
