In solidarity with Syrian citizens affected by the fires that devastated the central and coastal regions, and as a contribution to mitigating this environmental disaster’s effects, the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Drylands ACSAD provided the technical, logistical, and material assistance for the residents’ farmer and livestock breeders to help overcome the difficulties they faced in those areas.<\/p>\n

In a media statement, the Director-General of the ACSAD organization Dr. Nasr Edin Obaid announced direct support from ACSAD in the amount of 100 million Syrian Liras provided by ACSAD, expressing the organization’s full solidarity with the efforts exerted and decisions taken by the government of the headquarters country of, the Syrian Arab Republic, to mitigate the impact of those fires.<\/p>\n

He clarified that through constant communication with the Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Engineer Mohammad Hassan Qatna; it was also agreed to provide (50,000) olive seedlings, as well as to contribute to the rehabilitation of the degraded mountain lands by monitoring and identifying the locations of lands that have been exposed to fires and calculating their areas by using satellite imagery and preparing dedicated maps of these lands before and after the fire.<\/p>\n

In addition, the implementation of rehabilitation procedures for degraded land (soil conservation, restoring natural and cultivated natural vegetation cover, “fruit trees – forestry – cash crops\/tobacco, medicinal and aromatic plants….etc.)<\/p>\n

He also noted that ACSAD announced its readiness to conduct a number of training courses, at its own expense, on methods of cultivating and caring for olive trees and contributing to providing technical expertise in the field of forest care development and protection it from fire.<\/p>\n

The Director-General of the Arab Center ACSAD, Dr. Nasr Edin Obeid, concluded his statement by noting that ACSAD is also ready to contribute and locate the fire lines fire-affected sites for establishing mountain lakes to be used in extinguishing fires.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
