Objectives

The Palm Tree Program seeks to develop palm tree cultivation in the Arab countries by adopting the integrated palm tree management system. This program also aims to:

1. Disseminate and cultivate economically-important varieties in the Arab countries, and promote date production increase methods.
2. Adopt sustainable agriculture principles in date palm tree care system.
3. Implement projects and researches for developing the methods of integrated pest and disease management.
4. Utilize the available techniques and tools to increase the knowledge level of those who are concerned with date palm tree cultivation, including the governmental workers and farmers.
5. Develop post-harvesting techniques of date fruits.
6. Use GISs techniques in the projects and plans of the program.
7. Work on developing solutions for controlling red palm weevil of date palm trees.
