Palestine and ACSAD //New horizons for cooperation

The head of the Palestinian water authority, Mr.Eng. Mazen Ghoneim, agreed with the Director-General of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Drylands (ACSAD), Dr. Nasr Edin Obaid, to hold specialized meetings (on Line) between experts from ACSAD organization and experts from the Palestinian Water Authority to discuss possible issues of cooperation. In order to develop a memorandum of understanding between the two sides in the areas of raising irrigation efficiency, climate change, the use of unconventional water in agriculture, cooperation between ACSAD experts, and the Arab Water Experts Network in serving water issues in the Arab region.

This came during a virtual meeting (on Line) organized by ACSAD on 17/11/2020, in the presence of a group of relevant experts from both sides; during which the head of Palestinian Water Authority, Mr. Mazen Ghoneim, congratulated the Director-General of the Arab Center Organization ( ACSAD) Dr. Nasr Edin Obaid on the assuming of his duties as Director-General of the organization. He then reviewed the most important problems facing the Palestinian citizen in the water and agriculture sectors, especially in the health conditions that the region suffers due to COVID 19, noting the prominent role of ACSAD in reinforcing the Arab development efforts, stressing the importance of cooperation with the organization in all fields of common interest.

For his part, the Director-General of the Arab Center (ACSAD), Dr. Nasr Edin Obaid, presented the projects and activities carrying out by the organization in the Arab Countries, including the Palestine country, in the field of water resources management and development, noting the scientific and technical expertise accumulated by ACSAD and the importance of projects that have been implementing by ACSAD at the national and regional levels.

The Director-General affirmed the Arab Center’s (ACSAD)readiness to provide all possible forms of support to strengthen the Palestinian citizen’s steadfastness in the face of the Israeli occupation’s aggressive actions to prevent him from exploiting the natural resources in his land.
