The Ministry of Education and the Arab Center ACSAD / A scientific and research cooperation Convention
The Ministry of Education has signed a scientific and research cooperation convention with the Arab Center Organisation for the Studies of Arid Zones and Drylands ACSAD to conduct joint research and exchange expertise and information between the two parties.
Today, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Damascus, the Minister of Education, Dr Darim Al-Tabaa and the Arab Center’s Director-General, Dr Nasr Edin Obaid, have signed the Convention.
The Convention enhances the scientific research cooperation between the two parties to benefit from scientific advancement and modern technology in the mutual interest areas, developing the sound management of the natural resources and their sustainable uses.
The Convention included that ACSAD provides scientific and technical expertise to the experiment of ecological schools, applying sustainable development methods, and constructing learners’ positive directions towards nature safety in its various components.
Furthermore, ACSAD provides technical support and the expertise required in the curricula structure considered in Ecology, botany, zoology, water, earth, climate and scientific scrutiny for the implications of these curricula. The benefit from ACSAD’s specialised laboratories for developing school gardens cultivation, water uses, and joint organising for the field studies, sessions, conferences, and seminars related to their joint activities and tasks.
As stated in the Convention, the Ministry of Education draws on ACSAD’s experts in preparing cover plant maps, water and lands’ maps, livestock existence, and applying the remote sensing technologies, which can contribute to updating the Ministry of Education’s implications in different educational stages.
Both sides have agreed on taking necessary actions to facilitate the participation procedures and internal and external travel for conferences, symposiums, and seminars and benefitting from both parties’ technical and scientific experiences.
Both parties have agreed on the necessity of strengthening relations between Syria represented by the Ministry and the member Arab countries represented by the Arab Center ACSAD; the possibility of both parties to exchange information, statistics, publications, and the scientific documents issued by both; publishing the scientific research in the refereed Arab Journal of Dry Environment, issued by ACSAD. And post the joint research results in the name of both parties, taking the required procedures to protect publication and composition rights.
The Organisation’s Director-General, Dr Nasr Edin Obaid, stressed in a speech that the Convention aimed at scientific cooperation between the Ministry and ACSAD to benefit from the joint efforts in order to implement the scientific applied programs between the two sides. He also praised the significance of Ministry action in sustainable development and environmental preservation and protection.
He also expressed ACSAD’s readiness to provide research and technical expertise through its long experience in those areas; put it into the service of the Ministry of Education actions, particularly in this phase that is founding a promising future that fit the trendy generations and modern programs.
In his part, the Minister of Education affirmed that the Convention would be an apparent road map for the constructive, severe and fruitful cooperation between ACSAD and the Ministry in various areas. He said that ACSAD was an Arab house of expertise that made many outstanding achievements in the Arab World, particularly in the headquarters State of Syria.
Dr Al-Tabaa also emphasised that the Convention was a natural consequence of the prominent place ACSAD had. It would be a commence of a phase for serious cooperation under the current wise and active administration of ACSAD.
