The Syrian Ministry of Agriculture and ACSAD// enhancing the cooperation

The Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform in the Syrian Arab Republic, Engineer Mohammad Hassan Qatna, and the Director-General of the Arab Center for the  Studies  (ACSAD), Dr. Nasr Edin Obaid, discussed the affairs of cooperation between the two sides and ways to enhance and develop it.

During the meeting, which took place on 3/12/2020 at ACSAD headquarter, the two sides discussed the signing of a framework agreement covering all fields of research, scientific and technical work between the two sides, which will reflect on the research result of field application, works, activities, and implemented projects.

The two parties also discussed the direct and practical procedures for ACSAD providing 50.000 olive seedlings and 100 million Syrian pounds for the fire fighting requirements in the coastal and central regions that ACSAD decided to provide; start the field implementation of the joint work teams between the Ministry and ACSAD that related to the rehabilitation of the lands affected by the fire disaster. Work together by twinning the points contained in the strategy of action of both parties.

It was also agreed to advance cooperation between the two sides, including water resources, land resources, livestock, plant resources, training and qualification of Syrian staff, raising awareness, and agricultural extension.

The Minister expressed his appreciation for the efforts exerted by ACSAD in Syria and the Arab World by providing its rich experiences and applied scientific research to contribute to achieving sustainable Arab agricultural development and achieving Arab water and food security.

For his part, the Director-General of the Arab Center Organization ACSAD, Dr. Nasr Edin Obeid, expressed his great gratitude and appreciation to the Syrian Arab Republic leadership, government, and the people for the unlimited support to ACSAD, which contributes to the continuation of its work and the implementation of its programs, projects, and activities as required;  praising the great support that presented by the  Minister of Agriculture to ACSAD.
