ACSAD’s species of wheat achieve record productivity
In the frame of the cereal development program implementing by the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Drylands ACSAD in the Syrian Arab Republic and the rest of the Arab world’s countries, Durum wheat(1105) adopted in Syria in the name of (Doma1)produced by the Arab Center, has achieved record productivity of 11 tons per hectare this quarter in Hinah at Rif Demashq province.
ACSAD’s experts and researchers who did a field visit affirmed that this high productivity came after profound studies and the adoption of a set of agricultural treatment and technological package related to water and fertilizers rations and field service.
It is worth mentioning that wheat species, derived by the Arab Center ACSAD and adopted in Syria and Arab countries, are distinguished by high productivity and excellent resilience to drought to improve Arab food security.
So, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, ACSAD would strengthen wheat production in Syria using modern agricultural technologies such as cross-breeding among species and varieties. In addition to inducing artificial mutations, biotechnologies, tissue culture, and developing extension programs on wheat production and cultivation technologies lead to high productivity. Generalizing the benefit lessons of this increased productivity is accomplished in the farm field in the Hinah region.
