The Minister of Agriculture, Eng. Muhammad Hassan Qatna inspected the training workshop that was held at ACSAD headquarters today in cooperation with the British University of East Anglia on water accounting within the framework of cooperation to enhance technical capacity building for the cadres of the concerned ministries in the Syrian Arab Republic and its development in the field of benefiting from modern technologies To determine the water needs of crops
The Minister stressed the importance of this course and its integrated training program in order to qualify the participants at the hands of experts and researchers of ACSAD with great experience and expertise in this field, stressing the need to establish an independent specialized department in the relevant ministries to follow up on these trainees and benefit from their expertise in the practical and field areas.
He called for mobilizing the material, financial and scientific capabilities to take appropriate measures to mitigate the effects of climate changes that are dramatically sweeping the region, including the application of water accounting, which limits water resources, determines their financial and future uses, and pays attention to the potential impact of influencing factors, the importance of climate changes and the increase in population.
The Minister praised the work carried out by the Arab Center on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic in the field of agriculture and water, which are placed within the field of water accounting to determine water needs and the use of the decision support system to determine surface and groundwater budgets.
