ACSAD Organization and Damascus University / enhancing cooperation

The General- Director of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Drylands ACSAD, Dr. Nasr Edin Obaid, discussed with Damascus University president, Dr. Mohammad Yasar Abedin the cooperation affairs between the two sides in the scientific, technical, and administrative areas and the ways of enhancing and developing it.

During the meeting which took place today at Damascus University’s presidential headquarter, Dr. Obaid confirmed the importance of effective cooperation between ACSAD and Damascus University in its various faculties, particularly the Agriculture Faculty. He expressed Organization readiness to collaborate with University researchers and experts to achieve any researches or scientific applied projects in the different fields of ACSAD’s work, which would be beneficial for the Syrian Arab Republic, the headquarter country in particular, and all Arab countries in general.

He referred to the effective collaboration between ACSAD and the University, demonstrated by the joint supervision of masters and doctoral theses, and the visits of  University’s College of Agriculture students to the ACSAD research stations to familiarize the latest experiments and research.

He also referred to the holding of seminars and joint workshops and benefiting from the outstanding expertise of Damascus University to carry out development projects in the Arab countries; leave room for the publication of refereed scientific researches in the Dry environments Journal issued by the Arab Center ACSAD.

For his part, Dr. Abdeen commended the existing collaboration between the two sides, noting the scientific and applied research and projects implemented by the Arab center ACSAD in the Syrian Arab Republic and all Arab Countries in different areas with its positive socio-economic reflections.

Dr. Abedin expressed his admiration for the advanced applied scientific level reached by the Arab Centre (ACSAD) organization in its various work fields, wishing it continued progress and prosperity under its new management.
