A Convention for Marketing Varieties of Wheat and Maize for the First Time with the ACSAD Organization.
The Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Drylands ACSAD, together with the Nile Corporation for Agricultural Development in the Arab Republic of Egypt, have signed an investive, technical, and scientific Convention and partnership construction in implementing the research and developmental projects from ACSAD’s experiences in the techniques of devising, producing, and marketing the improved varieties of cereal, legume, and fodder to marketing them for the first time in Egypt.
In the presence of Dr Sayed Khalifah and the head of Egyptian Agricultural Engineers Syndicate, the Convention has been signed by His Excellency, Dr Nasr Edin Obaid from ACSAD, and the Director-General of the Nile Corporation for Agricultural Development, Dr Yousif Fayad, in the Arab Center’s headquarters in Cairo.
The ACSAD’s Director-General, Dr Nasr Edin Obaid, said in press statements that this agreement enhanced the technical capabilities and raised the cadres capacities level working in the Nile Corporation for Agricultural Development through organizing the scientific meetings; where the Arab Center provided the Corporation with appropriate amounts from origin strains and varieties of wheat, barley, sorghum bicolour, and millet to cultivate them in the Corporation’s research stations, which would positively reflect on developing the Egyptian corporations’ experiences in Agricultural projects administration.
He also added that this agreement aimed to enhance the cooperation between both parties in applying election programs of the improved breeds to be recorded, adopted, and distributed for the farmers in Egypt. As well as, it contributed to raising the efficiency of the Corporation’s water and land resources to optimize the benefit from marketing the outstanding varieties in the field of productivity and cultivation in the Corporation’s lands under the adopted rules.
Dr Obaid clarified that under that agreement, the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Drylands would provide the seeds of the improved breeds and varieties of cereal, legume, and fodder crops as well as providing the technical experiences; monitoring genre purity of the improved varieties and breeds alongside with the Supervision of the implementation of joint research experiments, field visits, preparing and providing quarter annual reports on the performance of implanted varieties and breeds; in addition to a list of the best breeds and the method to make use of it.
The ACSAD`s Director-General emphasized the Corporation’s commitment to providing the requisite areas to cultivate and implement experiments as well as the commitment with the agriculture program, the provision of production and harvest inputs such as machines, instruments, fertilizers, and pesticides in conformity with the specification; alongside Corporation’s supply with all data specialized in the agriculture and combating program from adopted fertilizers and pesticides and the and quantities used in accordance with the operational programme.
For his part, the Director-General of the Nile Corporation for Agricultural development, Dr Yousif Fayad, praised the efforts exerted by the Arab Center ACSAD to develop Arabian agriculture and achieve sustainable development, expressing his hope with more effective cooperation between both sides under the leadership of the ACSAD’s Director-Genera, Dr Nasr Edin Obaid.
