ACSAD & Damascus University .. cooperation Convention
The Arab Center Organization for the Studies of Arid Zones and Drylands (ACSAD) and Damascus University have signed a cooperation convention to enhancement the scientific cooperation and the existing research between them; the achievement of the good management and natural resources investment in arid and semi-arid regions in accordance with the common interests through conducting scientific research, joint conferences, and experiments and training exchange between them.
The Convention was signed today at Damascus University’s headquarters by ACSAD Director-General Dr. Nasr Edin Obaid and the President of Damascus University, Dr. Muhammad Yasar Abdeen.
The Convention provides for conducting joint research in work fields of mutual interests and exchanging the information, statistics, publications, and scientific documents related to the joint program between the two parties; facilitating the researchers work on both sides in the benefits ways from the library, laboratories, and the available techniques including establishing an exchange distribution system for the scientific articles and photocopies between them.
It also provided for utilizing from the available scientific and technical experiments in ACSAD and the educational body members in the University to benefit from their consulting experiences under the laws and systems of both sides. Moreover, Consulting about holding training courses for the specialized students in their research areas, delivering scientific lectures, holding symposia, conferences, and related seminars would contribute to scientific advancement in all fields.
Dr. Nasr Edin Obaid clarified in a speech following the signing of the Agreement that the Convention’s objective was coming as an embodiment of consultation and constructive cooperation between the ACSAD Organization and Damascus university in the common interest. He also confirmed it would be a new phase to develop and coordinate the work between both sides, especially in the field of scientific agricultural research development within the Arab Center Organization’s strategy of sustainable development.
He expressed ACSAD organization’s willingness to provide all the support for all researchers in Syrian universities, contributing to the sustainable agricultural development processes in Syria and Arab countries to upgrade the agriculture and socio-economic sector.
For his part, Dr. Muhammad Yasar Abdeen described the signing of the Agreement as a significant breakthrough for the cooperation between the two sides, highlighting the great position and rare experiments of ACSAD, particularly under its new administration.
Dr. Abdeen expressed his hope in this Convention for being a road map for cooperation in different areas that are the core of ACSAD’s interest in upgrading the scientific agricultural research sector, praising ACSAD competence and experience in all fields.
