Raise the scientific and applied efficiency in the field of irrigation. ACSAD organized a workshop for 20 Syrian agricultural engineers
The Director-General of The Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dryland (ACSAD) Dr. Naser Eddin Al Obaid concluded on 9/7/2020, at the organization’s headquarters in Damascus, the scientific-practical activities of the “Training Workshop on effective means to raise irrigation efficiency in Arab countries”.
In a speech, Dr. Al Obaid thanked the Syrian headquarters, the leadership, Government and the people, and praised the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian reform for its generous care and the unlimited support it provides and continues providing it to the organization.
He hoped that the participating engineers would have become trainers, and wish them to convey the experiences they gained from this workshop to their colleagues, as well as to transfer them to our Syrian farmer brothers, encouraging them to continue communication with ACSAD for its applied scientific expertise.
One of the co-engineers gave a speech on his behalf and the name of his colleagues, in which he extended their deep thanks to the organization ACSAD, as management, experts and cadres, for holding this very important workshop, and for hospitality and warm welcome, wishing to hold other advanced workshops in the future
The workshop was held for the benefit of 20 agricultural engineers from the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian reform Directorate from the various Syrian governorates, and its activities extended during the period 6-9/7/2020, aimed at strengthening Syrian capabilities in improving the efficiency of field irrigation
It is worth mentioning that The workshop, implemented in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), as part of the follow-up to the activities of the “irrigation efficiency raising project in the Arab region”, which has been being run by ACSAD since 2016 in a large number of Arab countries.
The workshop’s practical scientific activities included several axes, including the reality of irrigation efficiency in the Arab countries, the procedures proposed by ACSAD for improving efficiency, field-level training of participants on irrigation water management, and upgrading efficiency.
The scientific and practical applied training was conducted by a selection of specialized experts from the Arab Center(ACSAD) organization.
