The Ministry of agriculture and ACSAD // strengthening the corporation.
The Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform of the Syrian Arab Republic Engineer Mohammed Hassan Qatna discussed with the Director-General of the Arab Center organization (ACSAD) Dr. Nasr Edin Obaid, at ACSAD headquarters in Damascus, today the cooperation between the two sides, in particular the technical-scientific report on the cooperation between the Ministry and ACSAD.
In the presence of the delegation accompanying the general managers of the Ministry of Agriculture and the directors of the departments of ACSAD, the two sides discussed the activities, programs, and projects implemented by ACSAD and the possibility of benefiting from them in the Syrian Arab Republic through the signing of a general framework agreement between the Ministry and ACSAD.
The two sides also stressed the importance of joint coordination of the work, research and projects carried out by the two sides in all fields of concern to agriculture in Syria, including follow-up to the Joint Committee work on the Monitoring and Assessment of Forest fires, finding optimal ways of rehabilitating burned areas and protecting soil from water erosion, also, the development of fire line models to avoid future forest fires.
the Minister attended a comprehensive presentation about the ACSAD experience and projects in the Arab World in general and in Syria in particular, including water resources, land resources, livestock, plant resources, training and rehabilitation of Arab cadres, and raising awareness and agricultural extension.
The Minister also gave a briefing tour to ACSAD Laboratories for soil and water analysis, plant samples, biotechnologies, and plant tissues.
He also visited the trained engineers from the Ministries of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Water Resources, Local Administration and Environment of the Syrian Arab Republic, who are following the training workshop on “Land use maps preparation,” to take advantage of satellite imagery and digital data.
At the end of his tour, the Minister expressed his appreciation for the efforts exerted by ACSAD in Syria and the Arab World by providing its experience and applied scientific research to contribute to achieving sustainable Arab agricultural development and achieving Arab water and food security.
For his part, the Director-General of the Arab Center of ACSAD, Dr. Nasr Edin Obeid, expressed his great gratitude and appreciation to the Syrian Arab Republic, the leadership, the Government and the people, for its unlimited support to the ACSAD organization; which contributes to the continuation of its work and the implementation of its programs, projects and activities as required. He also Praised the Minister of Agriculture’s great support offering to the organization.
