ACSAD General Manager and a Sudanese agriculture technical delegation / Talks

His Excellency Dr. Naser Aldin Al-Obaid Director General of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid zones and Dry lands  “ACSAD” discussed with a Sudanese agricultural technical delegation headed by the undersecretary of agriculture and forestry Bader Aldin Shikh Mohammad Alhassan and the presence of the head of the cooperation team with ACSAD Dr. Fatema Mohammad ahmad rahma and the Sudanese Ambassador in Damascus Dr. Tariq Altom, the relations of cooperation between the two sides and ways of developing and strengthening them in various fields, during his meeting with the delegation today at the headquarters of the Arab Center ACSAD.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Naser Aldin Al-Obaid gave a brief presentation of the Center’s plans and programs to support the efforts of Arab countries in sustainable Arab development especially in the Republic of Sudan. Then the two sides conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the joint activities and projects currently being implemented, and what had been implemented for the project of a map of optimal uses for each of the states of the island, White Nile , Blue Nile and preparation for the launch of the field work for the study between the center’s experts, engineers and technicians working in the ministers related to the three states, and to find out the implemented amendments to the project data (Data Base) and the recommendations of the virtual meeting that took place between the two sides.

The two sides also held discussions about the Sudan Food Security Initiative and ACSAD’s contribution to supporting this initiative and benefiting from its experiences and scientific research, which supports the efforts of the Sudanese Ministry of agriculture and forests in sustainable development.

Dr. Alobaid assured the guest delegation the permanent readiness of ACSAD to put all its capabilities and expertise in the service of the programs and projects of the Sudanese Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, in a way that meets its aspirations and future plans for the development of the agricultural sector in the Republic of Sudan.

For his part, the Undersecretary of the Sudanese Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry expressed his appreciation for the efforts of ACSAD and its employees, and his hope that this meeting would contribute to raising the cooperation relations between the Ministry and ACSAD to the best levels, praising the important role played by ACSAD  in achieving Arab food and water security, and the level it has achieved. In her scientific and practical performance, especially in the recent period, and the high confidence she has gained and the position she has reached in all areas of her work.

At the end of the meeting, the members of the delegation listened to the presentation of the project of a map of optimal uses in Sudan and the implementation of field works and presentations by the directors of the departments of water resources, plants, land and water uses, livestock, and livelihood improvement projects. After the presentation of the offers, the delegation toured the laboratories, and biotechnologies and palm tissue cultivation, as he expressed his admiration for the modern techniques contained in these laboratories.

It is expected that the Minister of Agriculture, Eng. Mohammad Hassan Qatana, will meet the members of the Sudanese agricultural technical delegation and hold talks with them on the foundations and programs of cooperation between the Syrian Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform and the Sudanese Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and benefit from the experiences of the two countries in the agricultural sector and sustainable development.
